Welcome to the Official Simon Weir site! Simon is best known in Scotland for his portrayal of village bad boy Paul Lafferty in Scottish Television's long-running series HIGH ROAD from 1995 - 2003, as well as playing gangster Graham MacLaverty in BBC Scotland series RIVER CITY in 2008. Simon has appeared in over 50 television shows and featured in Ecosse Films MONARCH OF THE GLEN as the wicked Stuart McIntosh. He played Scud Mackay in STV's famous crime drama TAGGART. Simon's other TV credits include CRIME, GUILT, CASE HISTORIES, PATRICK MELROSE, EMMERDALE, BLOOD OF THE CLANS, ARMCHAIR DETECTIVES and DOCTORS. Film fans may recognize Simon from appearances in THE FOOTBALL FACTORY, THE ACID HOUSE & T2 TRAINSPOTTING, directed by Danny Boyle. Other film credits include POSTMORTEM (USA Feature), 83, CONNECT, SUPER NOVEMBER, SARDAR UDHAM, CAPGRAS, CLEEK and COLDBLOODED KILLERS. Simon wrote & directed his first Short Film 'GET SHIRTY' and has appeared in 25 Feature Films & over 50 Short Films in his 30 year career to date! He is also no stranger to the stage, having played Alan Breck in Selladoor's UK tour of KIDNAPPED, toured Scotland with LETTERS TO ABERLOUR and Ireland with SINGIN I'M NO A BILLY,HE'S A TIM, which he also produced. Other theatre credits include BUTTERFLY, THE PIED PIPER OF HUTCHESONTOWN, THE MERCHANT OF VENICE and LITTLE ULLA. Simon's panto work includes SLEEPING BEAUTY, ALADDIN and BEAUTY & THE BEAST and runs his own theatre company, Cathkin Park Ltd which is based in his native town of Glasgow. 2023 was a busy year of screen work for Simon, culminating in a very funny short film from The National Theatre Of Scotland, entitled CHRISTMAS AT CUNNINGHAMS, Directed by Jack Willison and out now on the NTS YouTube Channel. Simon has also recently completed filming on the Feature Film, PSYCHO SEX DOLLS, Directed by David Wilde, in which he plays Damien Self and starring Stella Paris. Also in 2023 he shot a 5th Bollywood movie, BHAI BHAI in which he plays Police Chief Noah Cooper, as well as another epic entitled MOM TANE NAI SAMJAY, playing the Mayor Of London, shot in Birmingham and out in 2024. In June he completed his leading role in short film TRACE, shot in London, a brilliant sci-fi Dystopian Thriller, directed by Jack Murphy. Also in London, Simon played the role of Thomas Cromwell in Historic Royal Palaces short film ANNE BOLEYN at the brilliant Hampton Court Palace and shot Feature Film THE DRAW in Edinburgh, with a superb cast and directed by Tom Ruddock. Also in 2022/23 he has worked on various roleplay events with clients including Police Scotland, NHS Lanarkshire, Glasgow University, Wheatley Group, The FA & Coloplast. Simon was a Producer on THE TOMMY BURNS STORY at The Kings Theatre, Glasgow and played Sick Boy in Irvine Welsh's PORNO at last year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival at The Pleasance Beyond. He also starred in another excellent Bollywood feature film CAPGRAS as Dr Allan in 2022, alongside a stellar Indian cast.

Simon has also completed his scenes on Episode 3 of A TRUE MISMATCH for Amazon Prime (out in 2024) and Simon's other recent television appearances include GUILT - Series 2, available on the BBC Iplayer now and Irvine Welsh's CRIME, which can be viewed on Britbox UK and ITV. In April 2022 he appeared in WHY ME? on Sky Arts, which is now streaming on Now TV. Simon's recent feature film work on Indian epic SARDAR UDHAM, directed by Shoojit Sirkar is now playing on Amazon Prime and the Indian World Cup feature 83, directed by Kabir Khan is now streaming on Netflix. Short film 1815, directed by Neil Boyle is now collecting awards on the Festival circuit & ORIGINS OF THE LAOICH, directed by Fraser Coull, is now out to distributors.
Short Film REMNANTS in which Simon plays the lead character Adrian, is winning awards at various festivals, including A Best Actor award for Simon at the North West Horror Film Festival. Simon also co-ordinated and starred in a teaser trailer for Jason Allday's debut film RUN, set in London, Scotland, New York and Las Vegas and Directed by Danny Provenzano with a stellar US cast, shooting scenes at The Barras Market where Simon has re-opened his cult clothing store, the ZICO FASHION BOUTIQUE in Moncur Street, Glasgow.
